About the Brace Y Barracudas!
The Barracudas are excited to be back in the Greater Charlotte Swim League and compete against other neighborhood teams in the area! The Brace Family Y Barracudas is a summer league team with children aged 5-18. The Barracudas' season runs from Mid-May through end of June.
The overall goal of our sports program is to provide an opportunity for all participants to learn the joy of movement, the skills necessary for daily activities and sports participation, social skills from group and team activities, the development of strength and fitness, the knowledge to live healthy lives, and an opportunity to understand and practice their own values and moral beliefs in life under the guidance of understanding and helpful adult coaches, group leaders and parents.
Swimmers of all ages will learn how to set goals, improve stroke technique of all four strokes, improve endurance, work on starts and turns, work as a team, make friends, develop leadership characteristics; all in a fun environment. Children will compete and learn without pressure or controversy. We are dedicated to the development of the total swimmer. There is absolutely no substitute for hard work and dedicated effort. Practice time is not play or social time and the coaches will run practice with this in mind. Further, we must develop the will of each swimmer to put forth his/her best effort. Our coaches and staff emphasize teaching the value of sportsmanship and team spirit. Meets are a fun family event and all are welcome.
Our program has many year-round swimmers who are looking to stay in shape and compete over the summer months, as well as swimmers looking for added competition and a stepping stone to prepare for a year-round team. If you're ready for a commitment, competition, and fun in a great family environment then you’re in the right place!
