Parent Participation Job Descriptions
Clerk of Course: Line up swimmers by heat and lanes for upcoming events.
Computer Operator: Enters both times for swimmers and DQ slips into Meet Manager Software and generates labels for ribbons. You must be trained for this position in order to sign up for it. It is best for one person to work the entire meet.
Event Flip Chart: Keeps up with the meet and operations our "flip chart" to make all attending the meet aware of what event and heat is in the pool.
Fill In: On stand by in case someone does not show up, has to leave, or we need extra help.
Head Timer: Ensures Timers are ready, communicates that to the starter, runs back-up stopwatches in case a timer fails to start their watch or their watch malfunctions.
Heat Ribbons: Hands out Heat Winner ribbons to the winner of each heat for 10 and under individual events (25s and 10&U 100IM). Relays do NOT earn a Heat Ribbon.
Parent Participation Check in: Check in all parents participating in the meet. This covers the entire meet. Must arrive early to the meet. Make sure all slots are filled for the meet and contact the FILL INs if they are needed. Must make sure the second half participants are in place for the second half of the meet (event 32).
Refreshment Runner: Makes sure all meet participants (from both teams) receive water/snacks.
Ribbon Handlers: Attaches labels to ribbons as they are printed by the computer operators. Also sorts ribbons by team.
Runner: Takes timers sheets and DQ slips from parents and brings them to the computer table.
Stroke and Turn Judge: Judges Swimmers’ relay take offs, kicks, turns, and finishes. You must be trained to sign up for this position.
Timer: Stands at the end of assigned lane with a timer from the other team and uses a stopwatch to time every swimmer in lane. Must attend Timer Meeting prior to the start of each meet.
