Brace Family Y Barracudas

Welcome to Hemby Program Center

Welcome to the Home of the Brace Family Y Barracudas!! We are very excited to have your team at our pool. We hope you enjoy your time here as much as we do! Here is some facility and meet info to pass along to your team:

1. Address – We are located at 9760 Happy Valley Drive, Charlotte, NC 28270. (Please note this is a separate location than the main branch of Brace Family Y). The Hemby Program Center is the location for swim meets, aka our camp facility Camp Eagle Rock.

2. Parking - Please follow the path all the way to the upper gravel lot to park. Overflow parking is available on the upper field. Use the middle lane for thru traffic. The lower lot is reserved for handicap parking only. Please, no parking along the main road coming into the facility or by cabins.

3. Arrival Time - Home team will warm-up from 5:15-5:30pm Visiting Team warm-ups are from 5:30-5:45pm. You are welcome to arrive any time after 5:15pm. We do have both pools available for warm-ups ONLY. The meet will start at 6:00pm following the national anthem.

4. Team Location – Please bring your own chairs to sit in. We have limited chairs on deck for spectator use. Visiting side is the left side of the lower pool; closest to the volleyball court. Home side is closest to the grass area in the lower pool. We will have both pools open for warm ups; however, the upper pool will close after warm ups. Sand volleyball court is off limits during the meet. Overflow spectator seating may occur in the upper pool and in the space outside the pool gates. No swimmers are allowed in the upper pool water during the meet. Parents may not stand, cheer, hover nor take pictures at the starting or finishing end of the pool unless they are timing or gathering swimmers. Timers may help a swimmer in need out of the pool.

5. Concessions – You are welcome to bring a cooler, however, no glass containers. There will be a Hungry Howie's Truck at the meet selling pizza and drinks.  All forms of payment are accepted, digital, cc, and cash.  Swimmers are welcome to bring drinks and snacks, but please limit these and keep it peanut-free if possible. It is helpful to eat outside the pool gates on the lower field area.

6. Diving - We have blocks, If your swimmers are not comfortable diving off them, they are welcome to dive off the side or start in the water. 10 and under relays will need to use in-water starts at the shallow end.

7. Clerk of Course - We utilize a split clerk of course. There will be chairs set up for you to organize your swimmers in the heat/lane prior to their race. Coaches are responsible for having swimmers in the right place at the right time.

8. Computer – The computer area is located on the lower pool deck by lane 1.

9. Meet Changes - Coaches please see our computer person for any needed changes.

10. Restrooms – They are located by the main gym, upper area of our campus behind the changing area.

11. Weather – Thunder/Lightning – we will need to clear the pool deck. We will relocate to the upper gym area or you may wait in your vehicles until the storm passes.

12. Timers - We will have a Timers meeting at 5:45pm before the start of the meet. This will be under the tent by lane 1. Please bring stopwatches and at least six/eight volunteers :)

13. Sportsmanship - Please remind everyone the importance of displaying good sportsmanship throughout the meet when in and out of the water. We highlight the core values of the Y; Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith in our programs and work to instill these values in our participants. We ask that swimmers stay in the water and give high fives after they finish!
